Goal Zero: X-Alps Sponsor!

Our motorhome has been a great way to train on the X-Alps course, with one exception: we had no way to charge our electronics unless we stayed in a campground and connected to power.   All that changed with a visit to Philipp at Goal Zero's European headquarters in Munich, Germany.

While we had visited Goal Zero's factory store in the USA (conveniently located just 3 miles from our house in Draper!), what we needed was too heavy to carry over with us, and the wrong voltage to boot.

So Philipp in Munich set us up with a Yeti 1250 and a couple of solar panels.  Check out all the specs for the Yeti 1250 here:  http://www.goalzero.com/p/140/goal-zero-yeti-1250-solar-generator.  It weighs over 100 pounds so there is no way it was going on an airplane!

This way we will be able to charge our electronics whenever we need during the race.   To recharge the Yeti, we can use an outlet, the solar panels, or the cigarette lighter in our motorhome.  In fact, 4 solar panels will recharge the Yeti faster than an outlet, which is amazing!    And the Yeti 1250 will be able to power our laptop, phone, camera, vario, GPS, watch, radio, backup battery, etc, without missing a beat.

Not to mention that it easily runs my high-power blender, which is going to keep me in green, healthy smoothies before and during the race!

Not everything from Goal Zero is heavy, though.  In fact most of their products are designed to work in the backcountry.  They have lightweight power and solar panel options for everything you could ever need to use it for.  We are looking forward to using some of these lighter products after the race when we are out in the backcountry of the USA.

Thanks to Goal Zero for getting us off the grid, wherever my flights may take me in the Red Bull X-Alps 2015!
